Jenny is doing great!!
With her Chemo finished and her cancer in remission, she can now begin to live a relatively ordinary life. She is feeling great and seems to have her strength back. Her hair is growing back very fast and has stayed the same trademark colour of red. She will still need to go ever 3-4 months for ultrasounds and chest X-rays to make sure nothing is going on. These trips to Sick Kids Hospital are a dream compared to when she having Chemo or had to be admitted because she could not stop throwing up. She will need to see Genetics, Radiology, Orthopedics and Cardiology for follow-up visits.
The problem with her heart is still outstanding. The Cardiologist will meet with her in the summer to determine what the next steps will be. Likely she will have surgery sometime in the fall to correct her PDA(Patent Ductus Arteriosis). The surgery itself is relatively minor compared to the removal of the Kidney or even the insertion of the port used for delivering Chemo.
Jennifer is now involved with the Star Light Foundation. They have organized a number of events that seriously ill child and their families can get involved in. We have been to a couple of movies and a trip to Niagara Falls. It's really great to be able to meet with other people who have been through something similar to us.
I think the most exciting for Jenny will be the granting of her wish to go to Disney World. She can't stop talking about it! Every time she sees a Disney video showing the different sites, she gets so excited.
We would like to thank all that have expressed their concerns for Jennifer and have offered their prayers.
